Hi – I’m Dr. Cameron! Many of my younger clients also call me Dr. Emily. I am a registered psychologist in British Columbia. I specialize in the assessment and treatment of emotional and behavioural concerns for children, adolescents, and young adults. In addition to treating youth directly, I deliver therapeutic interventions to parents to support parental mental health and parenting behaviours. These therapies include parent skills training and support during the transition to parenthood for both mothers and fathers.
I completed an MSc and PhD in Clinical Psychology through the University of Calgary, including a 1600-hour clinical residency in the Child & Adolescent Stream, Department of Clinical Health Psychology, University of Manitoba. I developed my broad range of expertise through several practica and residency rotations throughout my training. This included work experience in a variety of medical and mental health outpatient and inpatient clinics in Alberta and Manitoba, including two
pediatric hospitals. I have worked extensively in both individual and group-based interventions across multiple evidence-based therapies. I work from a trauma-informed, attachment-based framework that is inclusive of all individuals.
I have a passion for mental health research and program development. I am employed as an Associate Postdoctoral Fellow at the University of Manitoba (remote) where I conduct research on evidence-based programs for parents of young children with emotional and behavioural concerns. I provide clinical consultation and team leadership on projects evaluating interventions to improve emotional functioning in adolescents. I also provide clinical and research supervision to graduate and undergraduate students.
I’m thrilled to be back in my home province of British Columbia to provide evidence-based support to children and teens. When I’m not wearing my multiple hats, I love spending time outdoors, walking my dog, exploring the city for new foods, and cheering on my favourite sports teams!
